Installing Mopar JL HD Brakes / big brake kit 77072434 on a Jeep JK

The 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU brakes are undersized, and this becomes very apparent when going to larger tires, off-roading, overlanding, towing, etc.

A few options exist, but my preference is OEM parts for the simple reason that sourcing replacement parts is a breeze. Here’s a recap of the installation of the Mopar JL HD Brakes / big brake kit part number 77072434 on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This kit is discontinued, so source all parts for your choice of year JL Rubicon and go!

I highly recommend installing the Mopar J8 Master Cylinder and Brake Booster part number P5160050 at the same time. Mine was on back order when filming and was installed when it arrived.

This upgrade works beautifully with the following brake upgrades:
– J8 master cylinder & brake booster:
– Parking brake tensioner fix:

  2. I have seen a few times. Anti seize on brake bolts. And have seen use locktite. I would worrry about anti seize and brake bolt backing out. Thoughts?

  3. Thank you very much for all your time and effort making these videos.

Do you happen to know the bore diameter of the J8 master cyl.?

  4. I did the exact upgrade on my jk for 1300 dollars less. And you got the rear none vented rotors. The JT rear rotors are vented.

  5. What kit is this and where can I buy it??
