CAT Toughliner All Weather heavy duty floor mats install & review on our Mitsubishi Montero.

The original OEM carpet floor mats for the Montero are old and hard to clean after off road trips. I have been looking for a nice good quality set of all weather mats for the Montero.

I ended up deciding to go with CAT Toughliner heavy duty all weather mats based on great positive reviews on Amazon and the features I was looking for in all weather floor mats.

This video shows why I went with these floor mats and how easy it was to fit and install them on our Montero.

  1. Hey man thinking about going with either a 97 or 98 in the near future. Not sure whether I like the older or later (2.5 Gen) NL body styling better. The 97s are the only ones with both driver and passenger airbags in the older body style. Now with reference to airbags, I recently read about the Takata airbag recalls for this generation Montero/Pajero issued back in 2020. Nothing new as I had the same recall on my Pathfinder but the difference being there were replacement parts for my Pathy. I don’t know if this only effected Australia but I heard for their Pajeros there were no replacement airbag modules and Mitsubishi was effectively buying back the vehicles from the owners as the only available option.

I can’t ascertain whether the effected years are 1997-2000 or just 1998-2000 but regardless; do you have any info on whether this is a problem for the American market Monteros of this generation? Did your vehicle fall under this recall? Were there replacement airbags that Mitsubishi later came out with? It seems like Australia got the short end of the stick because they were either forced to sell their car back to Mitsubishi at an already low margin due to the market value lowering or sign a waver and drive without being able to get a new inspection. I’m curious if the American market Monteros ran into the same problem where Mitsubishi needed to buy back all of the effected Monteros because there was no replacement part?

Great video. Thanks I was trying to find something for my daughter’s 4Runner. Since the vehicle is a 1999 it’s hard to find decent matts. Used the link and think they will look good. Thanks for providing the link to Amazon 👍

  5. They’re practically tailored to your car, Cat should pay you for this video.
